Transient killed while using opposite 710 Freeway lanes in South Gate

SOUTH GATE — A 63-year-old male was struck and killed by a Toyota Camry on a 710 Freeway in South Gate, authorities pronounced today.

The pile-up occurred about 7:25 p.m. Sunday on a southbound 710 Freeway south of a South Gate tyrannise underpass, California Highway Patrol Officer J. Carter said.

“A walking using opposite a lanes of trade was struck by a Toyota Camry, causing deadly injuries to a pedestrian,” Carter said.

The man, believed to be a transient, died during a scene, Carter said. His name was funded tentative family notification.

Officers primarily close down all 4 lanes though all were reopened about 10:40 p.m., a CHP said.
