WATSONVILLE — An 18-year-old Watsonville male died early Sunday in a solo-vehicle pile-up on Main Street.
Watsonville Police Sgt. Brian Ridgway conspicuous a man, identified by a Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Coroner as Roman Quinonez, was roving southbound on Main Street around 4:30 a.m. when, for different reasons, his Hyundai Elantra veered off a right shoulder. The automobile slammed into a vast steel application stick during Crossroads Square during Main Street underneath dry and transparent conditions.
The impact squashed in a front finish of a 2005 four-door and hurled automobile tools some-more than 100-feet from a pile-up site.
Watsonville firefighters had to use a Jaws of Life to examine off doors and cut divided crumpled steel in sequence to extricate a man. He was rushed to Watsonville Community Hospital where he was conspicuous dead, Ridgway said.
Police close down both lanes of southbound Main Street for about 6 hours from South Green Valley Road to concede for a investigation.
